WHAT TO WEAR NOW
Festive looks and fresh ideas

OLIVIA DURIE

December has us flexing our style more than ever. One minute we’re dressing up in something shiny, the next we’re chilling in easy, cosy pieces (like post-party PJs, warming knits and comfy travel sets). And amongst all that, we have a yearning for something fresh as the new year beckons new ideas. So here are the pieces that we think satisfy every craving – for the festive season, and beyond.

The luxe travel setDriving to see the family, jetting off for some winter sun or simply enjoying a cosy Betwixmas at home – our Daisy set is the outfit that’ll make you feel suitably cosy, but also chic and put-together (ideal for when those unannounced visitors drop in). We’ve created a cardigan and matching joggers in our beautiful merino wool fabric, which look great together but can also be worn lots of different ways (perfect suitcase packing material).

The Christmas Day skirtLeather makes a great party look – but it’s not just for Christmas. Investing in a great leather skirt, like our croc-embossed style, will carry you through into next year (since leather is set to be big for spring, fyi). Team it with some kitten-heel boots and your favourite jumper for the big day, striking that perfect balance of cosy but special.

The go-anywhere jumperWe’ve long been fans of a great jumper. But what makes knitwear feel new? It’s all about those unexpected details. Our Francis jumper has buckle cuffs that give it a preppy edge and a touch of polish (they’re also removable for easy washing, or just a different look when you fancy it). It’s the kind of warm layer we’ll be grabbing all through the festive season, and smartening up with pinstripe trousers when we head back to the office.

The dress-it-up earringsWe’ve been enjoying the more subtle polish of silver jewellery for a few seasons, and it’s sticking around as our metal of choice into next year. Our wire-wrapped Tilly hoops are a great way to make a simple outfit more interesting – like a chunky knit and some joggers – but they’re also more than welcome at those festive parties.

The dinner party skirtIf you’re hosting this Christmas and wondering what to wear that’ll a) look special and b) feel comfortable enough to rush around and entertain in, we’ve got the perfect solution in our patent midi skirt. An A-line fit and stretchy waistband make it feel great to wear all day, while the crackled metallic shine stands out without going full sparkle. Add boots and a casual top to balance the look.

The denim refreshCraving change? A new pair of jeans is a great way to shake up winter’s outfits and put a twist on the knitwear we’ve been living in for the last couple of months. Enter our pinstripe denim: in a wide-leg jean or our sell-out barrel shape, this fresh detail feels like a subtle nod to tailoring without sacrificing the laid-back looks we love.

The Betwixmas trousersWe’re always up for a bit of sporty attitude, which is why we’ve added racer stripes to our bestselling Harrison joggers to give them a fresh look for the new season. They’re the kind of thing we can pull on for a Betwixmas brunch with friends and elevate with a blazer for the office come January – their satin material helps them do that ‘dressed-up, dressed-down’ thing to perfection.

The going-out bagFinding a bag that can do days out and going out-out can be tricky, so we made sure our Reva bag could do both. The ruched, pouch shape feels very now, while the patent leather shine does just enough to dress up a casual outfit (or compliment a party dress – ‘tis the season). It’s also a great size, so you can leave the house with more than just your phone and a lipstick.

The Christmas PJsThere’s nothing like a brand-new pair of pyjamas to make Christmas Eve (and morning) feel that bit more magical. And great PJs have always been our specialist subject. Our Angelina set lands in that perfect middle ground of cosy and chic – the mint and chocolate candy stripes nod to the festivities, but the satin finish feels luxe (and lovely to wear). Don’t judge us if we stay in them all day.

The party flatsLike versatility as much as we do? Try trading party heels for party flats, and you’ve got a shoe you can wear well into next season. (Even better, we can vouch for the silver trend continuing through spring.) Our Ruby ballet flats look so chic on, but also happen to be some of the comfiest shoes we’ve ever made thanks to their padded soles. All-night dancing sounds a lot more appealing again.
